The Results
Reduce susceptibility to disease
HeartMath enables you to force a positive change in body chemistry. This change has been measured in independent controlled studies conducted by two internationally renowned R&D institutes. They achieved:
- Reductions in Adrenalin levels ensured consistent blood pressure improvements of 8 to 10 millimetres of Mercury – blood pressure drugs are commercialised at 5 millimetres. High blood pressure significantly increases the risk of stroke and other cardio vascular diseases such as coronary heart disease
- A 90% improvement in DHEA (the antidote to Cortisol), improving the Cortisol: DHEA ratio. High levels of Cortisol impairs the immune system increasing the susceptibility to disease
Improve cognitive function
A controlled study conducted by CDR a world leader in cognitive function testing proved that the HeartMath techniques enabled individuals to maximise intellectual ability through improved cognitive function:
- A statistically highly significant >30% improvement in Cognitive function in adults was observed. This is the key to faster reactions, better decision making and greater perception and creativity
Increase energy, vitality and resilience
Throughout the last 12 years, organisations have measured:
- Substantial and sustained reduction in tiredness (at least 79%), exhaustion (at least 74%) and aches and pains (at least 62%), whilst at the same time recording considerable improvement in sleep quality (up to 75%)
Reduce Sickness Absence
According to very latest research by the CIPD and CBI employee absence is a significant cost to 90% of businesses. Statistics show that sickness absence costs :
- UK business over £12 billion a year and is growing
- Employers an average of £601 per employee per annum
- An average 9 days lost per employee with up to 23 million lost working days
- Larger companies (>5,000 people) 8.3 days lost per employee, and smaller companies (<50 people) lost 4.5 days per employee
What is not easily quantifiable is the 'knock-on' affect in terms of disruption to operational efficiency, the effect on customer service levels and on staff morale (those who aren’t sick).
As 80% of all visits to a GP are 'stress' related, therefore, critical to reducing sickness absence is reducing the impact of stress on staff, organisations using HeartMath have achieved:
- Up to 40% reduction in total Stress cases as measured by GHQ 12 an internationally recognised measure of stress
- Up to 80% reduction in Anxiety and up to 100% in Depression cases as measured by HAD, a measure used by the NHS for mild to moderate mental health issues
- 65% reduction in self assessed stress in an aggregate group of 1,500 employees
- Reduction from 65% to 8% in anxiety during a period of significant change
- Up to 30% improvement in sickness absence
Predict longevity and risk of major disease
The programme is based upon cutting edge medical research and is underpinned by techniques that allow people to manage/ improve their heart rate variability (HRV).
HRV is a very sophisticated indicator of overall health and is accepted as a powerful predictor of all cause mortality.
- Using HRV analysis, our Executive Health Programme has identified potentially life threatening conditions up to five years before they became a problem and before symptoms were evident.
- The Executive Health Assessment has been used at board level at Shell, BP, Unilever and GlaxoSmithKline.
The Conclusion
Recent research demonstrates that reducing stress, anxiety, depression and high blood pressure whilst at the same time improving Heart Rate Variability (HRV) will significantly decrease the likelihood of developing the diseases of modern man including Diabetes, Cancer, Alzheimer’s, Coronary Heart Disease, hypertension and stroke. This is beneficial both to individuals and the organisations they work for.
